"When In An Argument, Try To Help Your Opponent Strengthen Their Own Argument, For In Doing So, You Ultimately Strengthen Yourself, You Ultimately Elevate Both Of You."
When you are having an argument or a disagreement with someone,
try an unorthodox thing,
try to help your opponent make their argument even stronger.
You are pitted against each other.
You are arguing your point,
they are arguing their point.
It is you against them,
they against you,
both of you are trying to convince the other that your own point is right.
But...
why not try an unusual thing,
why not try to help your opponent,
your adversary,
your opposite,
further develop their own argument,
make their own point stronger,
strengthen the reasoning behind their presentation...
====
Perhaps you might believe this is undercutting you,
undermining your own authority,
detracting from your own position,
,but,
Perhaps you are actually helping yourself too.
You are getting to know your opposite's position better.
You are getting to think as they think.
You are helping them to feel better about themselves.
You are coming to appreciate that they are also a thoughtful human being.
You are coming to realize, perhaps they are not so different after all,
that what they are saying, is not so different after all.
