Set "True" Limits, So Life Does Not Pass You By

"Set Limits, So Life Does Not Pass You By."

Fear is a perfectly natural feeling, but it can result in you letting life pass you by.

It is easy to take the more familiar path,
the easier path,
the path which is less frightening,
but doing so can leave you feeling reamed out and hollow inside.

That is why it is a good idea for you to set limits on how far you will let your life slide before you will make sure that you act.

====

Now, I have always personally rebelled against the idea of setting limits.
It felt too constrictive and restrictive and I highly value my freedom to direct and guide my own life without the idea that I am bound nor committed to any one path.

But nearly 30 years (god...so much wasted life...) of having lived a life which feels devoid of purpose and joy is enough.
I'm exhausted with regrets...

====

I thought it would be illustrative to write down some of the limits which I will not compromise on.

1. Sun Protection
I can't go out in the sun without a Legionnaire Style Sun Hat, Sunglasses (with 100% UVA / UVB protection), and Sunscreen.
My face is already a far cry from the image I had of myself as an adult.
I do not want to further compound my disgust, by continuing to wantonly go out in the sun and have my skin battered and destroyed by its unforgiving rays.

2. Brushing My Teeth
I very occasionally forget to brush my teeth or am too exhausted to do so, but most of the time I'm very good about it.
...sorry if that's too much information, but, i'm tired of lying all the time, or, even holding back.

I'm tired of the gross feeling I get on my teeth when I haven't brushed.
I also miss how beautiful and white my teeth were when I was younger...

3. Washing My Hands
Something which I won't compromise on is washing my hands before I eat.
Thanks Mom!
I don't know if it correlates exactly, but when I don't wash my hands and I eat, I often feel sick afterwards.
Whether or not this is exactly right, the habit of washing my hands is one which I won't yield on.

====

hmm...not a very long list...
I guess I don't have a lot of limits which are set deep into my being.

I just haven't lived enough life to know what are true limits for myself.

But,
I do know,
that if a person does not set True Limits for themselves,
their life can pass them by and leave them feeling that they never lived it.

I do know that the secret to setting limits which a person can live with,
limits which will truly help a person to live their life,
is to set limits which reflect a person's internal truth.

The advice I would have given to my younger self would have been to search my inner truth for the limits of my life which i couldn't live with letting pass,
so I wouldn't let those experiences pass me by.
