Paint A Picture In A Person's Mind Of What You Want To Communicate To Them.
For example,
"Picture the Earth, it's tilted on axis, imagine arrows coming in from the side and touching the Earth. Now, since the Earth is tilted, some parts receive more arrows than other parts, specifically the equator gets lots of arrows, while the further, North and South you go, there are fewer arrows reaching them. That is how solar energy striking the Earth works."
